Therapy for Anxiety

Your mind races ahead and braces for the worst-case scenario. It predicts everything that could go wrong and tries to stay one step ahead with endless plans to avoid a negative outcome. Then it turns to the past—replaying conversations, questioning decisions, and criticizing what you should have done differently. Dread, tension, and nervousness can make it difficult to slow down, rest, or simply be present.

Over time, anxiety can begin to shrink your world. Avoidance brings short-term relief but often keeps you from experiences you might otherwise enjoy. You may try pushing through fear or talking yourself out of your worries, only to feel overwhelmed and even more reluctant the next time. Reassurance may help for a moment, but it never fully quiets the doubt. Perfectionism and control promise safety, but eventually leave you exhausted.

The reality is that uncertainty is part of being human. No amount of planning, analyzing, or preparing can eliminate it completely.

Even helpful coping tools only go so far when your mind and body are stuck in high alert. While skills can help manage symptoms, anxiety is often connected to deeper fears, experiences, and patterns that deserve attention and understanding.

In therapy, we'll gently explore the deeper layers of anxiety while also developing practical tools to support regulation and resilience. Together, we'll listen for what your nervous system may be trying to protect you from, make sense of the patterns beneath your symptoms, and create new ways of responding when anxiety takes hold.

As this work unfolds, many people find themselves better able to tolerate uncertainty, trust themselves, and step outside the limits anxiety has imposed. Over time, this can create a greater sense of steadiness, confidence, and ease in daily life.

Some ways that anxiety might show up include:

  • Generalized anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • Panic attacks and panic disorder
  • Health anxiety
  • Obsessive worry, mental loops, and OCD
  • Difficulty making decisions, second-guessing yourself, or fear of making the “wrong” choice
  • Perfectionism and high-functioning anxiety
  • Control patterns, rigidity, or difficulty tolerating uncertainty
  • Trauma-related anxiety
  • Food, eating, or body image–related anxiety
  • Chronic overwhelm, masking, or nervous system burnout
  • Anxiety during life transitions or identity shifts
